Why roman blinds?

Roman blinds bring timeless elegance and sleek practicality to any space. Crafted from a single fabric panel that folds into graceful pleats when raised, they offer a smooth, sophisticated look that elevates both classic and contemporary interiors. Perfectly versatile, Roman blinds transform windows into stunning focal points with effortless style.

Essential tips before you order your blinds

When considering your blind you need to consider whether to opt for an inside or outside recess blind.

Inside recess blinds are designed to fit neatly within the window frame, offering a sleek and minimalist style that can enhance the overall look of your interior textiles.

Outside recess blinds provide a more dramatic statement, often better at blocking out light and offering improved insulation.

Blind styles
Stacked or cascade?

We offer a “stacked” or “cascaded” option on our roman blinds. The stacked option means each fold is the same size, so that all the folds are level when the blind is pulled up. The cascaded option means each fold is a little longer than the last to create a staggered effect when the blind is pulled up. Which option you go for is down to personal preference but also depends what fabric you have chosen and which style is better suited to your pattern. There is very little difference in the size of the blind when it is pulled up.

  • Sophisticated style: Adds texture, depth, and a luxurious feel, especially with heavy fabrics.
  • Hides mechanisms: Effectively covers the top mechanism, providing a finished look.
  • Ideal for outside mounts: Works best mounted outside the recess to show off the fabric layers.

  • Maximises light: Excellent for inside recesses to keep the window clear.
  • Clean look: Ideal for modern or minimalist, tailored styles.
  • Compact: Less bulk when raised compared to cascade, good for smaller windows.

Key considerations when choosing your style

Fabric choice

Heavier, textured fabrics often look more dramatic in cascade blinds, while lighter materials work well in both styles.

Window size

If you have smaller windows, stacked Roman blinds can help maximise light without adding bulk. For larger windows, cascade folds can create a more luxurious and eye-catching effect.

Room function

In bedrooms where light control is essential, stacked Roman blinds may be the better choice. For living rooms and dining spaces where aesthetics are a priority, cascade blinds add a more decorative touch.

Insulation

Thicker fabrics and lined designs in roman blinds can enhance insulation, helping regulate room temperature and reduce energy costs.
